Biography

Mr Howard Webster is a specialist plastic surgeon at ARC Plastic Surgery. He consults in Melbourne, Shepparton and Albury.  With over 20 years experience in private practice, he focuses primarily on body, breast, face & nose, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Howard trained in Melbourne and Brisbane, and subsequently spent three post graduate years overseas training in the UK and the USA.

Howard is a past president of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons – the peak Australian professional body for plastic surgeons. He served for nine years on the ASPS Council. Howard was the founding Chairman of the new Australasian Plastic Surgery Education and Research Foundation, and was one of the initial four overseas invited plastic surgeons to serve on the American Society of Plastic Surgeons International Committee.

Over the years has co-authored five chapters in plastic surgery texts. He has presented at many national and international plastic surgery meetings and was on the teaching faculty for the IPRAS World Congress in Plastic Surgery in Vancouver, 2011, More recently, Howard was the Scientific Convenor on the Organising Committee for the 2013 Plastics Surgery Congress.

Passionate about the quality of patient care, Howard has spent his career actively seeking and advocating for improvements in patient safety standards. He served on the Avant (Insurance) Medical Advisory Council, whose role is to continually develop standards, reduce surgical risks and improve safety of practice.

Howard established and co-owns the Linley Clinic Private Hospital, a small, fully accredited centre of excellence focusing on the surgical care of plastic surgery patients, which has now treated over 30,000 patients in its 16 year history with an impeccable record of patient safety.

Howard is constantly keeping up to date with the latest clinical developments and research, and fosters ongoing improvement, communication and excellence in his surgical team.

ARC Plastic Surgery is a training practice for Plastic Surgery Specialists, having accredited plastic surgical trainees rotating through the practice for many years. ARC Plastic Surgery has a Fellowship position where, local and overseas newly graduated plastic surgeons spend a year of post graduate advanced training with ARC surgeons. This increases the quality of care offered by the practice, as teaching improves quality and standards within it.

“A patient’s choice of surgeon is their most important decision,” says Howard, “and I am absolutely committed to providing the best at all times for my patients. I am careful to allocate adequate, reasoned time with new patients to fully examine and discuss their needs, and encourage a second consultation prior to surgery, to ensure that every patient feels fully prepared, informed and certain of their choices. For this reason, waiting times to see me can be long, but I believe my patients recognise that considered advice and uncompromising care take time to deliver, and are worth the wait.”

Howard is available for consultation at ARC Plastic Surgery in Richmond, GV Specialist Centre in Shepparton, and in Albury.
