“ARC Plastic Surgery” no longer operates, however all surgeons continue to practice.

Skin Cancer Monitoring

ARC Skin Cancer GPs provide patients with a convenient option for regular skin checks.

The GPs can provide a thorough all-over skin check, biopsy any suspect lesions to check pathology, and perform minor procedures such as curettage, shaving or excision of lesions and moles. As you do not need a referral to see a Skin Cancer GP, appointments are more readily available than with the Plastic Surgeon. And where necessary, an ARC GP can provide priority referrals to the Plastic Surgeon for suspected or diagnosed skin cancer or where lesions are to be removed from cosmetically sensitive areas.

Still, you are most welcome to see the ARC Plastic Surgeon directly for any skin lesions. In this instance, we’d recommend that you have a referral from your own GP or dermatologist.

Dr Rob Brun & Dr Krista Tavcar are available for Skin Checks at ARC Shepparton.
Dr Lisa Freeman & Dr Vilma Di Maria are available for Skin Checks at ARC Richmond.

Total Body Photography

ARC Plastic Surgery Melbourne now offers BodyMapping®, which facilitates total body photography and subsequent patient exams. The BodyMapping software allows comparisons to baseline photos to assist in the detection of new lesions or changes in existing lesions. This service is offered by Dr Lisa Freeman, GP. No referral is required, and Dr Freeman is able to biopsy any suspect lesions to check pathology, perform minor procedures, or provide a priority referral to an ARC Plastic Surgeon for treatment. MoleMap utilises the latest technology designed specifically for melanoma detection along with the skills of highly trained dermatologists to assess every MoleMap patient. Dermatologists have undergone a minimum of 13 years training, which includes general medical training followed by specialist training in skin diseases. Our panel of dermatologists have all undertaken additional training & research in the technique of dermoscopy, ensuring you have highly qualified eyes analysing your skin. At MoleMap we very thorough – all lesions are captured and stored on file so that on future visits we can compare how your moles have changed/evolved over time. If there is one universal truth about melanoma it is change. The ability to track moles over time enables our dermatologists to pick up subtle changes that may indicate melanoma which would potentially be overlooked during a routine naked eye evaluation with no historical reference point. – See more at: http://molemap.net.au/faq/#sthash.a6oDX9Ab.dpuf

Skin Cancer Treatment

ARC Plastic Surgeons Mr Richard Bloom, Dr Kim Taylor and Mr Dean Trotter are available for patients requiring skin cancer treatment. It is advisable to have a referral from your own GP or dermatologist.

The surgeon will discuss the best option for treatment during your consultation. Where possible, procedures such as curettage, shave or excision of lesions and moles may be done in the consulting rooms, immediately following your consultation or may be delayed to a more convenient day for you.  If skin cancer treatment is to be done in hospital, the surgeon will advise.

As a private practice, we charge private fees. Most procedures will incur out of pocket costs, and a separate facility fee is charged for procedures undertaken in the rooms. Depending on the patient’s health insurer and the procedure to be performed, ARC surgeons may choose to, or not to, participate in a GAP (co-payment) scheme with the patient’s health insurer.  Where possible, patient’s undergoing a rooms or hospital procedure will be informed of the costs prior to the procedure being undertaken.
